Understanding ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition that can affect attention, focus, impulsivity, and energy levels. If you think you may have ADHD, we are here to support you in accessing the right assessment and care.
Your Referral Options
1. NHS Referral – Quay Healthcare
We can refer patients for ADHD assessment and treatment through Quay Healthcare.
How to get started:
- Complete an eConsult form
- A GP will review your request and discuss your symptoms
- If appropriate, a referral will be made
2. NHS Right to Choose
You have the legal right to choose a different NHS provider for your ADHD assessment.
What to do:
- Research and choose an NHS provider
- Complete their referral forms
- Email the forms to:
📧 cmicb-war.latchfordmc@nhs.net
What happens next:
- We will review your referral
- We will confirm if the provider is approved by the Integrated Care Board (ICB)
Important information:
- If a provider is not ICB-approved, the referral will be declined
- Shared care (ongoing prescribing) will always be reviewed before any agreement is made
3. Private ADHD Assessments
You may choose to access ADHD assessment and treatment privately.
Please be aware:
- Latchford Medical Centre does not continue prescriptions started by private providers
Why Are Waiting Lists So Long?
We understand that waiting for an ADHD assessment can be frustrating. Current waiting times are longer than we would like due to:
- Increased awareness
More people are recognising symptoms and seeking help
- Limited specialist services
ADHD assessments must be carried out by trained specialists, and demand is currently higher than available capacity
- Thorough assessment process
Assessments are detailed and take time to ensure an accurate diagnosis and safe treatment plan
