ADHD Referral Pathways
Posted or Updated on 26 Mar 2026
Latchford Medical Centre is pleased to share updated guidance for patients who may be seeking an assessment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. We understand that accessing the right support is an important step, and we are committed to helping patients navigate their options clearly.
NHS Referral via Quay Healthcare
Patients can access ADHD assessment and treatment through Quay Healthcare.
To begin, patients should complete an eConsult form to speak with a GP about their symptoms and reasons for referral.
NHS Right to Choose
Patients also have the option to choose an alternative NHS provider under the NHS Right to Choose scheme.
To do this:
Our team will review the referral and confirm whether the provider is approved by the Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Please note:
- Referrals to non-approved providers will not be accepted
- Decisions regarding shared care prescribing will always be reviewed before being agreed
Private ADHD Referrals
Patients may choose to access private ADHD services directly.
However, it is important to be aware that:
- Latchford Medical Centre will not continue prescriptions initiated by private providers
Why are waiting lists so long?
We understand that waiting for an ADHD assessment can feel frustrating. Current waiting times are longer than we would like, and this is due to several factors:
- Increased awareness – More people are recognising symptoms and seeking support
- Limited specialist capacity – ADHD assessments must be carried out by trained specialists, and demand currently exceeds availability
- Thorough assessment process – Assessments take time to ensure accurate diagnosis and safe treatment planning
Supporting You
We appreciate that this process can feel complex, but our team is here to support you in choosing the pathway that is right for you.
If you think you may benefit from an ADHD assessment, please complete an eConsult or contact the practice for further guidance.
